Officer Job Descriptions: 

President: Preside at all General Membership and Executive Board meetings; attend President's Council meetings, operate as Chief Executive Officer of the Local; Official point of contact for our Local; approves members to become Stewards; makes recommendations for appointments and recognition of Local 53 members.

Vice-President: Serves as President if the President is absent; Serves as Chair of the Local 53 Stewards Committee; other duties as assigned by the President.

Treasurer: Handle all financial duties of the local, including maintaining monthly financial reports, reconciling and maintaining bank records and reports, writing checks and arranging for dual signatures; filing taxes; filing reports with both Council 28 and AFSCME International.

Secretary: Take minutes at all General Membership and Executive Board Meetings; send out monthly meeting notices through WFSE; update and send monthly electronic newsletter using Mail Chimp; Maintain and update website using WIX; Collect mail in University Place twice monthly; Maintain Zoom account and run Zoom at virtual meetings; Maintain lists, collect documents and organize members who are attending conferences and conventions, including State and International Conventions.

Executive Board Job (5 positions) Descriptions: 

Executive Board members attend all General Membership and Executive Board meetings; with the officers above make up the Local 53 Grievance Committee to review grievances to approve moving them to Step 3' serve as resource for our members; work on special projects as assigned by the President.
